Item is the generic idea of lot. Lot is a kind of item. Container can 
also be kind of item.

No. No need. FIFO and LIFO is only mostly a financial issue in relation 
with inventory asset price calculation. If you need it, we can tell you 
what must be done but this requires very good developer skills. (and 
should be moved to another list).

No clean way currently. You could use causality for that between payment 
and PO but this is not very clean.

The real issue is that there is no universal way to define a relation as 
such between payments and orders. So, the most universal way is to track 
the relation through the customer.
