Hi,

On January 20th, in Paris (France), Nexedi and 10 other companies (Nuxeo, Morpho, Gontran, Wallix, XWiki, Alixen, Alterway, Paris 13 University, INRIA, Institut Télécom) will organise a conference which will focus on Javascript and Cloud Computing. The conference will be held at Institut Telecom. More details will be provided soon.

One reason why Nexedi co-organises this conference is because we recognize the increasing role of Javascript in modern enterprise applications. Look for example at UNG project (http://www.freecloudalliance.org/ung-Home.Page) or how ERP5 now includes a complete jquery distribution. However, some questions are still open in relation to building rich internet applications (RIA) in a sustainable way. Sergey Llinsky, a long time specialist who worked for Backbase, will introduce the Ample SDK framework which is based on a standard based declarative approach in a way which is quite similar to XUL or QML and departs from Qooxdoo or ExtJS for example. We will also have the authors or Bluegriffon and svg-edit.

The tentative programme can be found bellow (sorry, in French). I will provide an update once it is finalized.

Plus de 15 ans après son introduction et après 15 années de moqueries, Javascript est à la fois devenu un langage de développement dotés de framework sophistiqués pour le développement d'applications bureautiques, de serveurs d'application, d'applications mobiles et même de démons système. C'est aussi l'un des derniers espaces de liberté pour le déploiement d'application sur les plate-formes telles que l'iPhone ou Android sans devoir passer par un processus de certification. L'objet de cette conférence est de faire le point sur les progrès de Javascript dans le domaine des applications d'entreprise. Javascript permet-il de remplacer C++ ? Objective-C ? Python ? Erlang ?Java ? Quelles sont ses performances ? Comment peut-on développer efficacement en Javascript ? Qu'apportent les approches déclaratives (ex. AmpleSDK, XUL) par rapport aux approches impératives (ex. Qooxdoo, ExtJS, GWT) dans le domaine de l'interface utilisateur. Peut-on sécuriser Javascript ? Javascript peut-il aider à sécuriser le Web ? Toutes ces questions feront l'objet de d'études de cas d'usages dans le domaine des applications d'entreprises afin d'obtenir un éclairage rationnel sur l'impact de Javascript dans l'informatique d'entreprise.
